iolyn (rhymes with violin) is a Vancouver-born singer-songwriter with Caribbean and European roots, proudly raised in Philly. She now calls Montreal home ❤. You’d find R&B, neosoul, emo rock and musical theatre on her mix CDs, and all of that makes it into her songs. The result is a nostalgic sound that resonates with people who sob-belt to one song in their car and then shake their ass to the next in the queue.
She makes music for the self-reflectors and overanalyzers with big feelings, who want to make sense of the beauty, humour, and pain we experience on the daily. On an existential level, making music is how she finds meaning in all of it, and the songs are proof of the journey. She’s currently working on an album dedicated to everything it means to heal… from the utter denial, to the villain era, to the euphoria of loving in spite of it all. Her cats, Chewbacca and Dusty, and her dog, Xena, already love what’s been recorded so far.
